Excellence in Teaching Award
Janet was recently selected to receive the 2006-2007 Deveau Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching, given by Boston University's Metropolitan College. She was selected from among several hundred part-time faculty members who teach at the school and was presented with the award at commencement ceremonies on May 20, 2007.

Arts & Business Council
On April 28, 2007, Janet led a workshop for Boston's Arts & Business Council on audience development and marketing for their "Business on Board" program, aimed at business people preparing to serve on arts boards. This was the seventh time Janet has taught this workshop for the A&BC.

Dramabiz Magazine
Janet has been a contributor to four recent issues of Dramabiz magazine, a new publication aimed at theatre company administrators. Articles were on the topics of market research (Nov/Dec, 2005), public relations (Jan/Feb, 2006), direct mail and email communication (May/June, 2006), and collaborations (Sept/Oct, 2006). Theatre Survey
The April, 2005, issue of Boston Magazine carried an article called "Selling the Stage," about the TAMA audience survey. According to Janet, who was quoted extensively in the article, "Trying to figure out ways to make young audience members plan ahead may be fruitless. Maybe theaters should adopt different strategies and forgo the old-fashioned dependence on sending out brochures." The TAMA survey was also covered in the Boston Herald, the Phoenix, and Backstage. In January, 2006, a consortium of seven of those companies received funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council to conduct an unprecedented joint marketing campaign in the fall of 2006.

Brookline Arts Commission
On November 21, 2002, Janet spoke on a panel on the topic "Surviving and thriving in the current economic climate."

2002 Bell Ringer Award
On June 4, 2002, we received a Bell Ringer Award from the Publicity Club of New England for our marketing and publicity campaign for the 2001 Boston Cyberarts Festival. We also received a Merit Award for our Boston Ballet Annual Report.

McKinsey Panel
On October 5, 2001, Janet spoke to a group of McKinsey's Boston office consultants about career and volunteer opportunities in nonprofit organizations.

Boston Magazine
The September, 2001, issue of Boston Magazine published Janet's letter, which takes the editors to task for ignoring arts and culture in their "Best of Boston" issue. Excerpt: "One can get a beer, a bicycle, or a bikini wax in pretty much any city or town in the country. But the quality and variety of the performing and visual arts community are what make Boston unique."

Arts/Boston Panel
On April 10, 2001, Janet was a panelist on an Arts/Boston panel on the Care and Feeding of Subscribers. Call 617-262-8632 for information on future Arts/Boston seminars.

American Music Center
On November 4, 2000, Janet participated on a panel for composers called Concert Production for New Music.

2000 Bell Ringer Award
On June 13, 2000, we received a Merit Award from the Publicity Club of New England for our marketing and publicity campaign for the 1999 Boston Cyberarts Festival!
